      Both are open merit categories. A1 has less fees and more aggregate. A2 has more fees and less aggregate. A1 category can get scholarships after getting admission. But A2 cannot avail any sort of financial support.

      It would be difficult if you applied in A1 or A2, as merit is quite high.

      May be, the Merit may decrease 2~3%, but if you have got admission in another field, pay your dues to be considered for next merit lists.

      You should have applied in A1 category, A2 is for those who can afford it.
      It was clearly mentioned that no financial assistance for A2 category students.

      As far as I know, the S category is for overseas students. The orphan students in UET are given full fee concession,but should visit UET and resolve your matter.

    My aggregate is 73.1 ..... Though i got admission in electrical engineering but in A2.... Can i get to A1? by fourth merit list as A1 was 1st preference followed by A2 which i i got alhamdullillah.

      If the Merit of Electrical falls below your aggregate, you may get in A1.

      But to be considered for next lists you have to pay dues.

      i have paid dues for A2 electrical day after 1st merit list announced..admission office told me that if i get to A1 , my fees will be automatically lessened....... i doubted whether they are telling truth or not

      Once the preference list is submitted it cannot be unchanged.
      That is why it is said to choose your list wisely.

      You cannot switch between categories. There is only one option that is when all merit lists are announced. UET asks students if they downgrade to any discipline lower in their mentioned list. Like if someone gets admission in A1, and in preference list down there he has mentioned A2. He may get a chance to downgrade. This is always not possible, as seats are limited and sometimes you cannot downgrade to discipline you want to downgrade
